Frequently Asked Questions About Admissions

Q: What is a "visiting student"?

A: You're a visiting student if you want to take classes at Cornell while you are enrolled at another institution, or you already hold a bachelor's degree and are seeking admission to prepare for graduate study or a career.

Visiting students must complete the Transfer Common Application and Cornell University Transfer Supplement to the Transfer Common Application, found online at www.commonapp.org , and submit any applicable supplemental materials.

If you're accepted as a visiting student, you'll need to take at least twelve credits each semester, with half to two-thirds of your work in the college to which you've applied.  You can enroll as a visiting student for a maximum of two semesters.  Note: Visiting students are not eligible to earn a degree, and they do not receive financial aid.
