The College of Arts and Sciences has given me the opportunity to study things beyond my original interests. I have taken classes in anthropology, history, linguistics, and writing that differ from my typical science courses, yet I've found them interesting! The distribution requirements have pushed me to try new things.
Being a Biology & Society major, I'm so lucky that I've found a major that combines my interests in science and biology with my interests in studying people.
As a pre-medical student, my go to resource on campus is the Health Professions Advising Center. They have been so helpful in understanding the application timeline for medical school.
I found many of my friends through my first-year dorm, but I've found the rest through getting involved! On campus I've joined clubs and a panhellenic sorority, where I've been able to find my community and lifelong friends.
I chose Cornell because when I visited, I fell in love with the campus and the beautiful scenery around it. Beyond this, the school's reputation and the opportunity to explore many disciplines are what drew me in.
My favorite eatery on campus is Trillium, and I love the burrito bowl station.
When it's warm, I love going swimming around Ithaca in the lake and designated gorge pools! In the fall, I really enjoy hiking around Taughannock Falls.
My favorite thing about Cornell is truly the people! There are so many incredibly smart, hardworking, inspiring students and faculty on campus, and I've always found that this environment has pushed me to better myself as well.
My favorite Cornell memory was catching a puck at one of the hockey games in Lynah Rink!
My favorite spot on campus is Libe slope. There is nothing that beats a sunset on the slope with friends!
I'm inspired by my family, who have pushed me to work hard and reach for my goals. I'm also inspired by my friends and classmates, who are incredibly driven and whose backgrounds are diverse, as they've shown me that people can find success no matter their journey.
My favorite class I have taken was PUBPOL 3280: Fundamentals of Population Health. I loved this course because the professor, Dr. Carmalt, was so passionate about the subject and it changed my perspective on health and whose health is prioritized.
One thing that makes Cornell very unique is the broad array of disciplines across the school. From architecture to hotel to engineering to policy, every student has something interesting to tell about their discipline and experience at Cornell, and I continue to meet students from new studies all the time.
After graduation, I will be attending medical school.
My favorite place to study is the reading room in Uris Library. I absolutely love the natural light in the room, and it is always quiet, so it's easy for me to stay focused.
