What I enjoy most about RCPRS is the mentorship and support I receive. The program has helped me connect with faculty, learn how to find research opportunities, and navigate different situations that come up in the research process. I also really value meeting other scholars and hearing about the work they're doing.
I initially got involved in research out of curiosity, as I wanted to explore some questions I had about the world around me. Over time, I realized that some solutions that I found in the research can genuinely help communities. Now, I'm motivated by the cycle of discovery: running experiments, analyzing results, and contributing small but meaningful improvements/suggestions to AI development.
Some of my day-to-day work includes: design evaluation tasks and metrics, gathering and cleaning datasets, running models and tracking experiments, analyzing results, writing, presenting, and iterating with mentors. Although this seems like circular work, every time would get some different results that enable us to rethink the problem and direction that our research should go ahead.
