I must go with the class I am a teaching assistant for: INFO 2950 – Introduction to Data Science. I have many favorite things about this class. The first was the coding assignments. I had a lot of fun sharpening my programming skills, parsing data sets, and conducting statistical tests and interpreting them.
I also loved the interdisciplinary aspect of the class. Apart from just learning programming, we learned about best practices in the field, common interview questions, and how to create a professional data science project that could be presented to employers. As a teaching assistant for this class, I want to try my best to ensure that students this semester have the same positive experience that I had.
As a Milstein Scholar, I spent my first summer at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island. I had the privilege of participating in classes that explored physical and digital making, where I learned 3-D printing, laser cutting, and even played with some of the latest NVIDIA GPUs.
I also embarked on numerous excursions throughout New York City, visiting renowned art and technology museums like MoMA and Mercer Labs, attending Broadway shows, and experiencing the thrill of Coney Island. Furthermore, guest lectures and data-intensive projects encouraged me to contemplate the societal and ethical implications of emerging technology.
I plan to pursue a master’s degree in data science. I ultimately want to establish a career in data science, particularly in machine learning research and model building, and I am excited to further my knowledge through a master’s program.
It must be my room. It’s cozy and quiet, especially in the winters.

The nature! Cornell has, arguably, one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. As I run from class to class, I can’t help but stop each time for a bit, taking in the breathtaking views from the bridge and listening to the water crashing against the rocks.

The nature! Cornell has, arguably, one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. As I run from class to class, I can’t help but stop each time for a bit, taking in the breathtaking views from the bridge and listening to the water crashing against the rocks.
I entered Cornell with a bit of a mixed bag of interests for the future. The distribution requirements at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) allowed me to explore a wide range of disciplines. Taking classes in foreign policy, social networks, Spanish, and more not only broadened my horizons but also helped me narrow down my specialization. Ultimately, I decided to specialize in data science because I believed it was the ideal medium to combine my passions for mathematics, programming, econometrics, and social impact.
CAS has proven to be an excellent fit for my data science interests. I’ve been able to double major in both information science and economics, which has provided me with a strong foundation in machine learning, econometrics, and data ethics. This knowledge has given me a deeper understanding of how data science can be practically applied to address society’s most pressing challenges.
Through CAS, I’ve actively integrated technology with the humanities, whether through coursework or the insightful projects I undertake through the Milstein Program.
I’m particularly interested in Data Science, so I’m double majoring in information science and economics. My classes focus on machine learning, mathematics, data ethics, and econometrics. What I love most about my major combination is its interdisciplinary nature. I’ve been able to develop my technical skills while gaining a practical understanding of the ethical implications of these skills. My goal is to use technology to make a positive impact on my community, and these classes are providing me with the foundation I need to achieve that.
I believe that Cornell stands out for its unique offerings in this area. The technology and computing courses at Cornell strike a perfect balance between ethics and technicality, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive understanding of both aspects.
