I’m involved in the Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Board, The Daily Sun as a writer for the Science column, a research assistant under Dr. Cunningham in Nutritional Sciences, and a tutor for local schools in Ithaca with REACH (Reaching Educational Attainment Challenge).
It was the only school that I applied to that offered a nutrition major, which automatically put it at the top of my list. I wanted a large community where I could meet people from all over the world, but still be only a drive away from home.
I'm probably biased because I'm a Human Ecology student, but Martha’s cafe has the best customizable salad bowls!

My first night spent in my first-year dorm (Clara Dickson!). I could barely fall asleep because I was so excited, and it felt surreal to be at the place that I had dreamt of attending for so long.
My peers at Cornell—their evident drive to succeed and lead by example push me to try my best every day and give me hope for the years to come.
NS 2470: Food Investigative Lab, because students get to cook in the fancy kitchen inside Morrison Dining Hall. I TA’d for the class because I enjoyed it so much!
Cornell feels like a microcosm of the world, and you can make it feel as big or small as you want. Everywhere you turn is an experience waiting to happen, and it’s just such an exciting place to be.
I’m continually appreciative of Cornell’s diverse community. Coming from a small hometown, Cornell has provided me with an explosion of opportunities to meet people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and personalities. At the same time, I’ve found a comforting sense of camaraderie within, and a common purpose among students to create change.
I love that Human Ecology consists of slightly more specific majors within the sciences than other schools, but is not confining. The school encourages exploration of a path of your own design, with exposure to its many disciplines.
Studying nutrition has provided me with a unique perspective which I hope to bring to the medical field after graduating. I appreciate how Cornell, especially Human Ecology, dedicates itself to teaching students to apply their studies to the community and to improving the lives of others.
The Learning Strategies Center is amazing for academic support, especially for the notoriously challenging introductory science courses. The student tutors are knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging!
Be prepared for setbacks and disappointments, but do not get discouraged. I’ve learned that Cornell can be challenging, but at the same time so rewarding, and to appreciate the journey that comes with it.
Going out of my comfort zone and making an effort to dive into as many opportunities to meet new people as I can.
I am planning to take a gap year and apply to medical schools.
I’ve been studying in Olin Library since they renovated it, but I also love the Law Library.
This is a basic answer, but the view from the top of Libe slope (or the window seats in the Cocktail lounge) never gets old!
