I chose Cornell because I wanted to go to a school far from home, so that I could meet more people. Also, I felt that college should be an experience where I can learn to be independent, so it's nice to form new friendships and navigate a new chapter together.
My go-to place to eat on campus would be Mac's. I really enjoy the Tuna Sandwich as well as this semester's Semester Smoothie.
My favorite thing to do in Ithaca is going to the Commons. There are so many cute stores in the Commons as well as cafes to study in. Also, there are lots of events that are held in the Commons, including Apple Fest and the Chili Fest.
My favorite Cornell memory would be having my first "hell" week in dance. We had rehearsals every day leading up to our semesterly performance. While it was tiring, it was really rewarding as it served as a way for all the new members to meet each other and the rest of the team.
Being pre-health, I'm inspired by what I can do for my community in the future. The idea of pursuing dentistry in the future inspires me to work hard so I won't feel any regret.
My favorite class so far is Linear Algebra for Data Science because it was interesting to see topics that I'm learning actually be applied in real-world scenarios.
I've participated in the Dyson Business Minor for the Life Sciences Trek to NYC. We were able to talk with current Cornell Tech students as well as Weill Cornell research students. Many of the Cornell Tech students had backgrounds in healthcare, but they were at Cornell Tech for the business- tech aspect of the healthcare sector, so it was really interesting to see the variety of things one could do in healthcare.
After graduation, I hope to pursue dental school as dentistry has been a career goal of mine since I've been younger.

One aspect that makes Cornell unique is that we are in Ithaca. Specifically, I feel that because we are in a small town, the community feels much more tight-knit. There are so many community-wide events that happen throughout the semesters, and they serve as the perfect debrief from the more difficult academic life here. The motto work hard, play hard really applies here.
My recent favorite place to study has been at the long tables in Olin near the cafe (super basic). I enjoy seeing people pass by and how the environment can be quiet or loud at times, depending on the day.
My favorite thing about Cornell is the environment that is fostered here, whether that is through the friends that I've met in classes or at dance, or the professors that I've taken classes with. Also, Ithaca is a great city to explore because there is a mix of nature with the gorges near campus, but also local stores in the Commons that students can reach by walking.
My favorite spot would be one of the many cafes in Ithaca (I can't choose one over the other). Being able to study or hang out at these cozy cafes is a nice break from the normal pace of life.
I think that Arts & Sciences is a great fit for me because I enjoy learning about various topics. Specifically, the distribution and language requirements allow me to explore more classes that I might not have thought I would take in college.
At Cornell, I'm studying Statistical Science, and I enjoy studying statistics because it is a widely applicable topic. While I hope to pursue dental school in the future, the Statistical Science major allows me to learn and apply ideas to the field of dentistry. One cross-sector topic I have been studying is how machine learning can progress the field of dentistry in the coming years.
My go-to campus resources would be speaking with my advising dean or major advisor if I want to ask about academics. Often, they are able to direct me to next steps or to another resource that is better tailored to address my concerns. Another resource I use is going to professor's office hours. I find that asking questions in one-on-one or small groups tends to be easier than asking in front of the class.
If I had one piece of advice that I wish I had known when I was applying, it would be to speak more with current students about the university. I think that students provide relatable insights that can be useful for learning more about the school and then writing about these insights in an application.
I found my friends and community at Cornell through my dance group and classes. Because many of my classes are the same as other pre-health students (i.e., biology, chemistry, etc.), it was nice to make friends who could relate to my experiences. Also, I found many of my other friends through dance. Having rehearsals every week forms bonds, not only between the members in my year, but also between those who are older and younger.
