My favorite thing about Cornell is the flexibility I have in choosing my classes and shaping these around my interests and passions.
CALS is a great fit for me because they have offered me a space where I can explore what I'm really passionate about. CALS has not limited me to any one idea, but rather has encouraged me to explore multiple career paths that I am interested in.
What I love about studying Communication at Cornell is studying how persuasion and messaging can influence law, leadership, and public opinion.
My go-to-campus resource is CALS Student Services. I discovered them when I first transferred to Cornell and needed help scheduling classes. CALS Student Services helps in multiple ways, such as pre-law advising, academic support, and guidance on navigating opportunities within Cornell and even after college.
One piece of advice I wish I had known when applying is the amount of resources Cornell offers. Contacting CALS Ambassadors or Student Services can make for a smoother transition.
I found my community at Cornell through my major, and the classes I am taking. I also met some of my friends through the program house I live in.
When I was applying, I chose Cornell because of the sense of community, along with the beautiful campus. I was really drawn to the fact that there are over 800 student clubs. There really is something for everyone! I knew I would find my place here, no matter my interests!
I think Cornell is unlike any other school. Cornell has such a broad range of programs and unique majors. I have been able to make friends with people who have such different interests and learn from perspectives that I might never have been exposed to otherwise, which contributes to the collaborative feeling on campus.
My go-to place to eat on campus is Toni Morrison, and my favorite things to order are the pizza and the chia seed pudding! They are both so good!
My favorite thing in Ithaca is walking through the very cute downtown. In the fall, I love to go to Apple Fest, which is a fall-themed community event.
My favorite place to study is Olin Library. There are so many different rooms and spaces to choose from, and it's always really quiet, which makes it easy to focus. Since it's located on the central campus, I often run into friends there, and we end up studying together.
My favorite spot on Cornell's campus is the Dairy Bar! This is a great space to meet friends, hang out, and have some ice cream! Since it's connected to CALS, it's a fun place to go between classes and take a break with friends.
My favorite Cornell memory was attending my first hockey game with my friends at Lynah Rink! Cornell won against Yale!
Cornell has pushed me both academically and personally, helping me grow both in the classroom and in the professional world. This growth motivates me to keep working towards my goal and help others do the same. I'm especially inspired to use this growth to advocate for others through my future career in law.
So far, my favorite class has been Oral Communication. Public speaking is something that is so important today, but often overlooked. Taking this class has helped me to step outside my comfort zone and deliver speeches in front of large audiences with confidence.
After graduation, I hope to attend law school and eventually serve as a Judge Advocate General in the United States Air Force.
