My Favorite Study Spots on Campus

Blog Post
A little about me
I’m Katie, a junior in Arts & Sciences, and as someone who has spent countless hours studying in almost every study spot and library on campus these past two years, I feel qualified to share with you all the best study spots I have found, as someone who likes a relatively quiet, comfortable, and most importantly, not busy place to do work – because who wants to pace around a library for 10 minutes, trying to find a place to sit down?
#3: Management library in Sage Hall
Coming in at number 3, I have the small but cozy study space in Sage Hall. Located in the heart of Central Campus, this is the perfect place to study in between classes or activities. It gets busy at times, but it’s usually possible to find a spot to sit, and there’s some variety in the seating options, from high bar-style chairs to comfy seats with your own desk, lamp, and of course, outlet. With the Atrium cafe located in the building as well, Sage offers a perfect combination of everything you’re looking for while studying – in a location that’s almost always close to wherever you are.
#2: Music library in Lincoln Hall
I’m hesitant to share this one because it’s one of my personal favorites and it’s almost never busy or full – so it’s a special treat for you blog readers out there! The music library in Lincoln is a traditional library setting, with no volume, spacious and cushiony revolving chairs, your own desk (again, with an outlet), and seating variety (also wooden chairs in a group-style study setting). As someone who was frequently coming from Baker Lab or PSB, I found Lincoln to be a prime study spot – accessible, quiet, comfortable, empty, and with lots of natural light beaming from the windows.
#1: Lower level of Kroch Asian Library in Olin
If you know, you know. Not everyone even knows about the lower level of the Asian library in Olin, but if you walk all the way down the hall, past the entrance to the ground floor study spaces, and take the stairs down to the lower level, you’ll find cubicles, single study rooms, and group study rooms (I believe you can reserve the study rooms?). Personally, if I’m studying somewhere, there’s a 90% chance I’m in the cubicles. They’re spacious (so much desk space, multiple outlets, and a place to hang your coat during the winter which is rare!!), quiet, and have the best ambient environment for studying for long periods of time. And of course, Amit Bhatia Libe cafe is located just upstairs, offering you a perfect study break drink or snack. If you haven’t already, check this one out!
