I met most of my closest friends during the CALS orientation event before classes even started. I introduced myself to someone, we started talking, and then her roommate joined us, who coincidentally happened to be in my major. The three of us clicked right away, and we've stayed close ever since. Especially as a first-year, when it feels intimidating to talk to new people, just reaching out makes a huge difference because everyone is in the exact same position and looking for connection.
