My academic passion lies in using quantitative methods to understand complex health problems and improve how decisions are made in medicine and public health. I enjoy the analytical side of the field, asking careful questions, building models, and interpreting results in a way that can actually inform clinical practice or health policy. What I appreciate most about studying this major at Cornell is how closely the quantitative work connects to real biological and health problems. Biometry & statistics sits at the intersection of statistics, life sciences, and applied research, which means the concepts we learn are not abstract for long. They quickly become tools for studying disease patterns, evaluating treatments, and understanding population health. That connection between rigorous mathematics and real human outcomes is what makes the work meaningful to me and keeps me deeply engaged in the field.
