Cornell has so much to offer student veterans that it’s difficult to know where to start and what to highlight. I’ve selected a handful of items based on frequently asked questions and distinctive features that help make Cornell such a special place.

You can find your community at Cornell.

Whether you decide to live in the Veterans House, relax and connect with peers in the veteran lounge, join one of our veteran clubs, try some of our more than 1000 clubs/organizations, engage with the broader Ithaca community, play sports, or take advantage of the incredible outdoor opportunities—there’s something for everyone.

Cornell is Affordable for Student Veterans.

Cornell offers robust need-based financial aid to meet 100% of students demonstrated financial need. Veterans are not required to use their GI Bill benefits, but if they decide to do so, Cornell participates in the Yellow Ribbon program to help pay for fees the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn’t cover.

Cornell Supports its Veterans.

We’ve earned a Purple Heart designation and were named the Best College for Veterans. From the time you apply through graduation and beyond, we provide layers of support that include resources for veterans beyond the fantastic support systems available to all Cornell students:

Cornell faculty are amazing, and you’ll get to know them well.

Cornell faculty may be among the leaders in their respective fields, but they’re also approachable and engaged. With a 9:1 student to faculty ratio, you can be partners in your educational journey. Take advantage of that opportunity—sit in the front, introduce yourself, ask questions, attend office hours, and be sure to say hello when you see them around town.

Cornell offers the rare combination of world-renowned academics and strong school spirit.

Cornell is home to 37 Division 1 Varsity Sports Teams, dozens of club sports teams, and rich traditions that help make this place a fun, vibrant community. From cheering for our national champion lacrosse team to dressing in elaborate costumes for Dragon Day, or celebrating the end of the semester at Slope Day, there’s always something exciting happening at Cornell.
