Meet Ariel
Ariel brings a unique blend of curiosity and enthusiasm to campus life. At first, she worried about forging connections in Cornell’s vast community as a transfer student. However, she quickly discovered the warmth and openness of her fellow Cornellians. Cornell’s vibrant event calendar provides endless opportunities to connect and explore new interests. And on weekends, you’ll find Ariel at the Ithaca Farmers Market, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere, supporting local businesses, and savoring the stories behind each vendor’s offerings.
What clubs/activities are you involved in?
I am involved with Forte Campus at Cornell, The Women's Network, REACH, and Big Red Buddies.
What is your favorite thing about Cornell?
The people at Cornell are genuinely some of the nicest, most brilliant people I have met. Coming to Cornell as a transfer student, I was nervous I would struggle to build new connections given how large Cornell is. But I quickly discovered how welcoming and open everyone was to get to know you. I admire how excited Cornellians are to speak about their unique backgrounds and their Cornell experience.
What are your go-to campus resources? How did you discover them?
The ILR Office of Career Services has offered a transformative amount of guidance to me upon arriving at Cornell. When I went through transfer orientation, I spoke with a staff member who explained the wide range of resources they offered. Every staff member is kind and willing to discuss your professional pursuits. They also have drop-in events throughout the semester including workshops on resumes or how to navigate Handshake (Cornell’s network for career information and recruiting). They are a resource I can always reach out to if I have any questions or concerns about my professional development, and I encourage anyone in ILR to utilize this amazing resource.
What is one piece of advice or something you wish you knew when you were applying?
Highlight the unique elements that make you, you! It can be easy to get caught up in making your application seem picture-perfect, but it is important that whoever is reading your application can tell it is yours.

Cornell enables you to explore any area of interest while providing you with the resources and guidance to excel in anything you do. The ILR school is a tight-knit community filled with students and staff who are excited to help you in any way they can. Where is your go-to place to eat on campus and what is your favorite thing to order?
I love the West Campus house dinners! Seeing the effort the dining staff puts in every week to create a unique, themed dinner is incredible. It lets you meet other residents in your housing community while listening to live performances from other students. As a coffee enthusiast, my go-to order is an oat milk latte from Cafe Jennie!
Tell us about your favorite Cornell memory.
My favorite Cornell memory was seeing the Homecoming fireworks show with friends this year. Seeing the students and alumni enjoying the music and laser show was so special. It was amazing to see how big of an event the Alumni Affairs could pull off and all of my expectations were surpassed. The graphics of the laser show were executed perfectly to the beat of the music and everyone was in such great spirits. It really encapsulated the pride Cornellians have for Cornell and continue to keep years after graduating.
Tell us about your favorite place to study.
I spend most of my time studying at Catherwood Library because of the cozy ambiance and different study sections. I enjoy having the choice to collaborate with other students on the first level of the library or to the silent side for deep studying. The librarians are always welcoming and helpful when navigating databases or other library resources.
Tell us about your favorite spot on campus or in Ithaca.
The Ithaca Farmers Market is always a wonderful spot to go on the weekends with friends. It is always exciting to see the various vendors and it is a great way to support local businesses. I love learning about the origin stories of the different businesses and hearing vendors speak about their passions. Whether you are looking for a quick bite, flowers, produce, or jewelry, the Ithaca Farmers Market has it all!
