Dani found it was easiest to form bonds and create lasting connections by joining academic and cultural clubs where she already had a common interest or background with other members. Whether stargazing on the slope or visiting the farmers market together, she considers those friendships the foundation of her favorite Cornell memories.
What clubs/activities are you involved with on campus?
I am part of Cornell University Sustainable Design, Underrepresented Minorities in Computing, and Native American and Indigenous Students at Cornell.
What is your favorite thing about Cornell?
I love the libraries—I can always move around campus and find the perfect workplace.
How did you find your friends and community at Cornell?
I found my friends and community by joining academic and cultural clubs. Starting with things in common makes it so much easier to socialize.
When you were applying, why did you choose Cornell?
I loved the campus, and knowing that the Engineering school was diverse made me want to apply.
Where is your go-to place to eat on campus, and what is your favorite thing to order?
I love Cafe Jennies and ordering the Turkey BLT!

I like going to the farmers market with my friends. It is a great way to meet people and learn about local businesses—and they have great food.

My favorite Cornell memory is sitting on Libe Slope at night with a few friends and listening to music while stargazing. Now, I think of the slope every time I hear "Across the Universe" by the Beatles!
What is your favorite class so far, and why?
I loved CS 3110: Functional Programming because the projects were engaging, and the professors were always kind. It was an entirely foreign topic to me when I first started the class, but it quickly became a class I was genuinely excited to work on.
Tell us about your favorite place to study.
My favorite place to study is the A.D. White Library because it's so beautiful, and everyone is always really respectful about keeping it a quiet place.
