Meet Kammi
Kammi, an Applied Economics and Management major with a penchant for real-world experiences, thrives on the opportunities Dyson provides and finds the robust alumni and professional network helps fuel exploration across diverse sectors. Her go-to student resource on campus? The OADI office, discovered during her Pre-Collegiate Summer Scholars Program. When studying, Kammi retreats to the law school lounges and the serene Catherwood Library. Beyond campus, she finds Stewart Park a tranquil haven by Cayuga Lake, perfect for picnics and relaxing walks.
What clubs/activities are you involved in?
I am involved with Diversity On The Streets (Eboard), Dyson Diversity Council (Eboard), Cornell University Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (business subteam), and Project Hope (fundraising committee).
Why is the Dyson School a great fit for you?
Dyson is a great fit for me because of the endless opportunities provided for students to get technical experiences reflecting real-world professional scenarios. The strong alumni and professional network in Dyson also allows students to explore different sectors and interests. For example, there are alumni and peer advisor coffee chat hours available for students to ask questions about specific sectors of the business industry. Furthermore, there are 11 concentrations we can choose from that help us develop specialized knowledge and practical skills in a range of real-world-relevant areas.
What are your go-to campus resources? How did you discover them?
The OADI office! I discovered them when I was participating in the Pre-Collegiate Summer Scholars Program (PSSP) the summer before my freshman year at Cornell.
What is one piece of advice or something you wish you knew when you were applying?
The business club culture for business students could be a bit intense for introverts. But it helps you prepare for the necessary public speaking and networking skills that would benefit you professionally.

Where is your go-to place to eat on-campus and your favorite thing to order?
If I’m using Big Red Bucks, the smoked salmon bagel from Bus Stop Bagel or Chicken Milano from Cafe Jennie. If I’m using a Meal Swipe from my meal plan, the Asian BBQ pork from Morrison for Sunday Brunch.
Tell us about your favorite thing to do in Ithaca.
This sounds cheesy but watching the sunset on the Slope! It is always relaxing and calm to watch the sunset, and a great mood-booster too
What is your favorite class so far and why?
Intro to Oceanography! Professor Monger is super passionate about the ocean and every topic taught in the class. He always plays music in the beginning of class to set the right atmosphere for the lecture (and wakes students up too LOL.) The homework in the class is also 100% relevant to our daily life and our planet, which makes it always fun to do and conduct research on.
Tell us about your favorite place to study.
Definitely the law school lounges and the Catherwood library! I love the interior design of the law school and the quiet environment of Catherwood.
Tell us about your favorite spot on campus or in Ithaca.
Stewart park! It is pretty and calm with the lake and trees, which makes it the perfect place for a picnic or just a relaxing walk.
