What opportunity did you participate in with the Meinig Family Cornell National Scholars?
I got an internship working for the Indian Health Service in South Dakota. Some obstacles were finding housing and especially figuring out a way to have a car while away from home. I was also worried about what it would be like living in a remote area. Thanks to the funds afforded to me by Meinig, I was able to afford much of my living expenses, and I was able to pursue an internship outside of my hometown.
What was the most valuable part of your experience?
I found the experience extremely rewarding and it definitely met all of my goals. It helped solidify my decision to pursue engineering professionally, and I learned a ton of skills, both technical and non-technical that I will use in the future. I also got to learn about Native culture and tribal-federal relations.
