Tell us about your favorite Cornell memory.
One of my favorite Cornell memories is participating in my first Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC) event. Being part of such a large-scale event, where students come together to plan, organize, and execute an entire conference for industry professionals, was both challenging and rewarding. I got to apply what I’d learned in the classroom, work with an amazing team, and contribute to a memorable experience for guests. This hands-on experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the hospitality industry and allowed me to bond with other students who share my passion.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by the idea of making a positive impact on people’s lives, whether it’s through hospitality, service, or community involvement. Growing up in Hilton Head, I saw how small acts of kindness and excellent service could create memorable experiences for guests, and I want to carry that forward in my career. The hospitality industry has the power to bring people together and make them feel valued, and I’m inspired by the opportunity to contribute to that.
What is your favorite class so far and why?
My favorite class so far has been Business Computing. It was incredibly informative and practical, as we learned the ins and outs of Microsoft Office applications, with a strong focus on Excel. Through this course, I became proficient in tools that are essential for business, such as creating spreadsheets, using formulas, and analyzing data. One of the highlights was becoming Excel-certified, which not only boosted my confidence but also gave me a valuable skill I can apply in any finance role. This class separates Cornell students from other interns.
What makes the Cornell experience unique?
The Cornell experience is unique because it combines rigorous academics with a breathtaking campus and endless opportunities to get involved. Every day, I’m inspired by the beauty around me. It’s the perfect backdrop for learning and growing. Beyond the classroom, there’s something for everyone, whether it’s joining a club, exploring Ithaca’s gorges, or just hanging out on the Slope with friends. Cornell brings together incredible people and experiences in a setting that makes it easy to feel at home, and that’s what makes it truly special.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in hospitality finance or real estate, where I can combine my analytical skills with my passion for creating memorable guest experiences. I’m particularly interested in roles that involve evaluating and developing hotel properties, as this would allow me to work with both numbers and people. My ultimate goal is to find investment opportunities and evaluate successful renovation projects to analyze opportunities that are financially successful, environmentally sustainable, and provide unforgettable experiences for guests.
Tell us about your favorite place to study.
My favorite place to study on campus is the third-floor couches in Statler. I love the large windows that fill the space with sunlight, creating a warm atmosphere. The comfortable chairs make it a relaxing spot, and I enjoy being surrounded by friends and peers who are coming in and out of classes. It’s my go-to place when I don’t need to lock in completely and can enjoy a bit of social energy around me. But when I really need to focus, I head to Uris Library. The cozy atmosphere, combined with the quiet, helps me concentrate fully, and the library has been my reliable spot for exam prep and important projects.
