Meet Sara
Sara, an international architecture student from India, finds Cornell to be a melting pot of brilliance and compassion filled with individuals who strive to make the world a better place. The entrepreneurial spark flickers within her, and she aspires to shape the world through her own venture after graduation, envisioning a future where design and business intersect.
What clubs/activities are you involved with on campus?
I am a College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP) Ambassador, work as a Peer Career Advisor for AAP Career Development in AAP Student Services, and I also work at the AAP IT Solutions Department.
What is your favorite thing about Cornell?
I love the community at Cornell! I truly feel so lucky to be around smart and passionate people who contribute to making our world a better place! There is so much compassion within this community, and I have found home in many fellow students! As an international student, I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Why is the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning a great fit for you?
AAP is one of the smallest colleges on campus, allowing its students and faculty to be tight knit. I am passionate about design and its impact on our world, and I am among students who are brilliant in every way and enhance my experience both in and outside of the classroom! The research opportunities and the optional electives and studios offered at AAP truly excite me!
When you were applying, why did you choose Cornell?
Cornell AAP’s Architecture program is the best in the country, thus Cornell was always a dream school. To study with students from all over the world who bring different perspectives and challenge one another was also an opportunity I sought. Cornell’s vibrant environment and its course offerings also led me to apply.
Where is your go-to place to eat on campus, and what is your favorite thing to order?
I follow a very strict and restrictive diet; I eat pure vegetarian food and avoid all underground vegetables like potato, onion, garlic, carrots, etc. I do eat at dining halls and on-campus cafes, but my go-to is a Pesto-Mozzarella Sandwich from Mann Café! And I love Green Dragon for an afternoon coffee.

Tell us about your favorite thing to do in Ithaca.
I love hiking and being in nature, Ithaca has a lot of trails and waterfalls that I love being around. I also enjoy hanging out in Collegetown outside Collegetown Bagels when the weather is good!
Tell us about an off-campus program you’ve participated in.
I have not participated yet, but I’m extremely excited to attend Cornell Rome and Cornell Tech in NYC for my fourth year!
What are your plans after graduation?
I am still figuring out what exactly I want to do after graduation, however I am interested in entrepreneurship. I hope to start my own venture one day and use design to shape the world we live in. Ideally, I would like to pursue something that lies in the intersection of design and business.
Tell us about your favorite place to study.
The Fine Arts Library located in Rand Hall next to Milstein is my favorite place to study. This library has floating shelves and cozy desks alongside the windows overlooking the Thurston Avenue Bridge. It also has one of the largest art and architecture manuscript collections.
Tell us about your favorite spot on campus or in Ithaca.
My favorite spot, hands down, is Libe Slope! There is something so calming and enjoyable about sitting on the Slope on a sunny evening and watching the sunset with friends. Nothing beats that. Every time I look at the Slope, I am at home!
