Getting started on professional development can be hard, but with the support, guidance, and resources that Cornell Career Services provides, navigating this uncertainty becomes manageable. They can help with career exploration, resume writing, graduate and professional school advising, internship and full-time job searches, fellowships, and more! Career services can provide you with the fundamentals that will help you steer your future.   
 
Cornell Career Services is located in Barnes Hall, directly situated in Ho Plaza. Offering extensive career support ranging from resume writing, interview readiness, networking, and so much more through a network of over 75 full-time staff professionals across campus, supplemented by approximately 70 student peer advisors. Cornell students and alums can schedule a meeting to discuss your tailored concerns (even after graduation, you still have access to this resource). 

Appointments

Cornell career services appointments are tailored to meet your specific needs and address your inquiries, regardless of where you are in the future process. These appointments are free and typically last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the topic. You have the flexibility to schedule appointments at your convenience, with options for both Zoom and in-person meetings. Many offices also offer drop-in sessions. Even if you don't have a specific question, the career services team can assist you in determining where to start and guide you through the numerous free resources available to Cornell students. 

Practice Interviews  

Professional staff at your college's career office and Cornell Career Services in Barnes Hall provide interview preparation support, including simulated mock interviews. When booking, you can choose between Behavioral, Case, or Technical interview formats. Whether you are certain about your career path after Cornell or are just beginning to contemplate your future, Cornell Career Services has something for everyone.    

Career Development Toolkit   

The Career Development Toolkit, a comprehensive series of award-winning modules on essential career topics, is easily accessible in Canvas, Cornell's learning management system. You will gain full access to the Toolkit after obtaining your Cornell NetID, putting you in the driver's seat of your career development. You can view a description and overview of the topics included in the Toolkit beforehand, giving you a head start on your career journey.  

Features of the Toolkit include: 

  • Interactive activities, such as identifying keywords in job descriptions, prioritizing your work values, and preparing for interviews.
  • 24/7 accessibility to enhance your discussions with career coaches.
  • Detailed information and tips contributed by Cornell alums. 

The Toolkit is a dynamic resource, with new content added frequently, ensuring that you always have the latest information at your fingertips. Currently, over 300 pages are available, providing a wealth of knowledge and support for your career development. 

Meeting Students at all Stages

The advisors in the career service offices of each college and school, along with the university-wide office of Cornell Career Services at Cornell, are available to assist you with exploration activities, whether you are starting from scratch or looking to narrow your focus within a specific field.
