What is it about the College of Human Ecology that makes it so appealing to such a wide variety of students?

We focus on identifying, examining, and addressing contemporary human issues. As long as students are curious about the world, intent on problem-solving, and applying their studies to people, chances are they will find a home in the College.

Transfer Friendly!

We understand that students’ interests can evolve through experience and that students can hit their academic stride at different times.
We are interested in learning how your educational and career plans are developing. Whatever the reasons for considering a change, you will be happy to know that the College of Human Ecology welcomes transfers, with roughly 20% of the college comprised of students who began in other colleges.

How Do I Prepare?

So, we’ve prepared materials to help you better understand if you are a strong candidate. We are looking for students:

  • with a high GPA.
  • with a parallel curriculum.
  • who convey a solid connection to their intended major through their essays.
  • with a demonstrated desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals, communities, groups, and organizations to affect change and improvement.

Other Tips?

  • Pay attention to the required and recommended course work. (You’ll need to complete these courses before and as you are applying.)
  • Review curriculum sheets for whatever major/s you are considering. (You have to choose a major as you apply). Follow the required recommended course work for admissions, but this site will let you know what a major really entails.
  • Read the University’s course catalogue for course descriptions that can help you identify course equivalents at your current institution.
  • Have some fun looking at the courses in your intended major, along with possible free electives from around the University.
