Understanding Cornell's Waitlist

You are being offered a place on Cornell University's Waitlist because given enrollment limitations, we cannot offer you admission at this time. Keeping your name on our waitlist will give you the opportunity to keep your application active until we determine whether there will be additional space in the Class of 2028.

A dean, registrar, advisor, or another college official who has access to your records must complete this report. The form should be filled out as completely as possible by the official; the sections regarding academic standing and disciplinary record are required. We cannot review your application without a completed College/Registrar Report.

This form is completed by the applicant for the courses you are enrolled in at the time of your application. If midterm grades are not available to submit with your application, the Mid-Term Report should be submitted as soon as possible when grades are available. If your college does not assign midterm grades, please speak with your professors and have them assess your current performance in class. If you are unable to get a grade, an explanation is required.

We require your official transcripts from all colleges attended. Official transcripts must be signed or stamped with an official seal of the institution. In order to be considered official, they must be sent using one of the following methods:

Missing the Mid-Year Report Transcript will not prevent your application from being reviewed by our admissions committee. The Mid-Year Report Transcript can be submitted whenever it is available. We strongly encourage school counselors to submit these online via the Common Application. We understand that some students with schools on trimesters may not have any new grade information to report and therefore do not need to send a Mid-year Report Transcript.

The School Report form should be completed by your high school counselor or school official and submitted with your high school transcript. The School Report must be sent using one of the following methods:

This submission must be completed by one or more instructors who have taught you in a full-credit college course. A high school teacher’s recommendation should not take the place of a recommendation from one of your college instructors.
